JAMESTOWN HISTORIC JAIL
This jail--built during the boom years of quartz gold mining--was completed in 1898. It was mostly used to temporarily house inmates until they could be taken to the main county jail in Sonora. It operated until 1940. From 1964 to 2007 the jail was in a theme park near Stockton.

RAILTOWN 1897
Railtown 1897 is a state park that has preserved the station, roundhouse, locomotives, and cars of the steam-driven Sierra Railway. Open Thursday through Monday (April-October, 9:30a.m.-4:30p.m.; November-March, 10a.m.-3p.m.) Closed Tuesday and Wednesday and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. Steam trains run 11-3 on weekends April-October.

ROCCA PARK
Small public park with gazebo bandstand, children's play equipment, rest rooms, picnic tables with grills. Historic oregon cart with plaque. Public parking lot. Has historic jail that has been restored. Park is closed from 1am to 5am.
